Petros Bekiaridis (1993-2016)

Petros Bekiaridis was born in Thessaloniki in 1953.

Studied at Macedonian Conservatory with Giannis Mantakas (degree in Vocal and Harmony) and at State Conservatory of Thessaloniki with Costas Nikitas (degree in Counterpoint and Fugue). From 1979-1981 he studied at the Schola Cantorum in Paris (theoretically and clarinet) and attended a series of choral practice seminars with Stephane Callat at the Center d'Études Polyphoniques et Chorales de Paris.

He worked as a teacher of theory, history of music and choir at the Macedonian Conservatory (1977-1979), at the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki (1981-2010), at the Municipal Conservatory of Stavroupoli (2001-2013) and at the Municipal Conservatory of Polygyros (2002-2005). In 1997 he was the first director of the newly established Municipal Conservatory of Edessa.

His first contact with choral music was through the historic Children's Choir of HMO, conducted by Antonis Kontogeorgiou . Since 1973 he was a member of the AUTh Choir conducted by Giannis Mantakas. From 1977 he was at times a musical assistant in the choir and after the departure of Giannis Mantakas, in 1992, he became director of the Music Department of the University Student Club of AUTh, a position he held until his retirement in 2016. In this context he organized He conducted the "Yannis Mantakas" Choir of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Chamber Choir and its Organic Ensemble, with a continuous and uninterrupted presence inside the University, in Thessaloniki, Athens, in many cities in Greece and abroad. Through the choir he gave the opportunity to thousands of young students of music in Thessaloniki to meet and love the choir song and to have an opportunity for creative and enjoyable work.

He has collaborated many times with KOT, KOA, the Third Program of ERT, the AUTh Orchestra, the NOT Orchestra, the Thessaloniki Youth Chamber Orchestra and with conductors such as Karolos Trikolidis, Alkis Baltas, Myron Michailidis, Dimopoulos, Antonis Kontogeorgiou, Kostis Papazoglou, Angelos Filippou, Kostis Konstantaras, etc. He also collaborated with ET3 and TV100 in the production of choral music programs and documentaries.

Since its foundation, in 1985, and for several years he collaborated with the Department of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in the context of attending the choir class by his students.

As a collaborator of Giannis Mantakas since the 80's he participated in the organization of seminars for teachers and seminars for choral music. He also collaborated in the creation of music publications made by the Music Department of the PFL of AUTh.

He has organized a total of 9 Meetings of Orchestras and Youth Choirs, giving the opportunity to ensembles of our city, and not only, to work in groups and present their work.

Within the framework of the European Federation of Young Choirs Europa Cantat has participated since 1973 very regularly in international festivals, giving concerts of Greek choral music with the choir and participating in workshops with major works of international choral literature. Has appeared in Spain (1973, 1991, 2003), England (1976, 2002), France (1985, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2011), Austria (1997), Belgium (1982, 2001, 2004), Luxembourg (1982) and Hungary (1988, 2010). He has also participated in the organization of similar international choir meetings in Thessaloniki (1980 and 1983) and Kavala (1986).

In the 90's he collaborated with the French choir À Cœur Joie and organized Greek choral music workshops for French choirs in France and Greece.

He also conducted the Choir of the House of Letters and Arts of the Municipality of Veria (1976-1979) and the Choir of the Association "Alexander the Great" of Edessa (1982-1985).

His repertoire includes hundreds of choral works of all kinds (for children, women, men, mixed choir, hats, accompanied by piano, small or large orchestra) and all seasons (from the Middle Ages to the present), as well as Greek choral music. He presented many of these works in a first Greek performance.

Erifili Damianou (2016-)

Born in Thessaloniki. She is a Graduate of the Department of Music Studies, AUTh, of the School of Kindergarten Teachers of Thessaloniki, Graduate of Piano and Graduate of Theory of the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and Graduate of the Music Pedagogical Institute of Zoltán Kodaly (Red Diploma). She studied Choir Conducting in Hungary with their teachers Pêter Erdei, Eva Rosgonyi and Katalin Kiss. At the same time he attended classes and seminars with Antonis Kontogeorgiou, Giannis Adamidis, Ernst Koletschka and Doreen Rao.

Από το 1992 διδάσκει ως Ειδική Επιστήμων στο Τμήμα Μουσικών Σπουδών του Α.Π.Θ., ενώ παράλληλα εργάζεται και ως καθηγήτρια μουσικής στην πρωτοβάθμια εκπαίδευση. Έχει διακριθεί ως Μαέστρος της Χορωδίας Κοριτσιών Παναγούδας Θεσσαλονίκης με πολλές συναυλίες, ηχογραφήσεις και μαγνητοσκοπήσεις στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Υπήρξε επί σειρά ετών μαέστρος της Παιδικής και Μικτής χορωδίας του Ωδείου Μουσικό Κολλέγιο Θεσσαλονίκης. Από τον Φεβρουάριο του 2013 ίδρυσε και διευθύνει τη Χορωδία της Ελληνικής Ένωσης για τη Μουσική Εκπαίδευση (Ε.Ε.Μ.Ε.). Είναι επίσης μαέστρος των χορωδιακών συνόλων του Τμήματος Μουσικών Σπουδών και της Χορωδίας «Γιάννης Μάντακας» του Α.Π.Θ.
Ως μουσικοπαιδαγωγός παρακολούθησε πολλά σεμινάρια και επιμορφώσεις σχετικά με τις διδακτικές προσεγγίσεις των Carl Orff και J. Dalcroze.
Ως ερευνήτρια συμμετείχε ενεργά στο πρόγραμμα Ψυχοακουστικής (I.PS.A.) του Α.Π.Θ. καθώς και στο διατμηματικό πρόγραμμα «Music and the Brain» του Τμήματος Μουσικών Σπουδών και της Α-Νευρολογικής Κλινικής του Α.Π.Θ. Παρακολούθησε προγράμματα εξειδίκευσης που αφορούν τον συσχετισμό της μάθησης με την λειτουργία του εγκεφάλου στο Πανεπιστήμιο Μακεδονίας και το Πανεπιστήμιο του Sheffield στη Μ. Βρετανία. Έχει παρουσιάσει επιστημονικές ανακοινώσεις σε Ελληνικά και Διεθνή συνέδρια και έχει δημοσιεύσει εργασίες της σε Ελληνικά και ξένα μουσικοπαιδαγωγικά περιοδικά.
Ως μουσικολόγος συνεργάστηκε με τον οργανισμό «Θεσσαλονίκη – Πολιτιστική Πρωτεύουσα 1997» και το Μέγαρο Μουσικής Θεσσαλονίκης στη μουσικολογική επιμέλεια προγραμμάτων συναυλιών.
Είναι μέλος των διεθνών επιστημονικών οργανώσεων ESCOM, MENC, ISME και IKS.
