On Friday, 26 September 2025, the International Medical Olympic Association held an event in honor of one of its founders, Professor of Medicine at AUTh, Philippos Grammatikos (1933–2024).
The first part of the event featured speeches highlighting the work and personality of Philippos Grammatikos. The keynote speaker was Vasileios Kokkas, Emeritus Professor of Medicine at AUTh, while honorary guests included: Anastasios Manthos / former Rector of AUTh, Vasileios Papadopoulos / Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Stefanos Triaridis / Chair of the AUTh School of Medicine, Konstantinos Vadikolias / Chair of the Democritus University of Thrace School of Medicine, Pipitsa Valsamaki / Assistant Professor of Nuclear Medicine at DUTH, Efthymios Chatzitheoklitos / Deputy Mayor for Social Policy, Solidarity and Welfare, Maria Chatzidimitriou / Vice President of the Medical Association of Thessaloniki, and Efthymia Sygkollitou / President of the Association of Emeritus Professors of Higher Education.
The event concluded with a performance by the “Υannis Manτakas” Choir under the direction of Erifili Damianou, accompanied by Ermina Konstantinidou on flute and Giorgos Ntafos on piano.
